Job Description
As an Associate Director, Data Science, you will proactively bring innovative data science techniques and insights to business to drive/support strategic business decisions. The person will work closely with integrated insights, commercial ops, patient engagement and omni channel analytics leads. Hands‑on functional expertise, highly collaborative mindset and leadership skillsets required. Role will report to Sr. Director, Marketing Sciences and is office based/hybrid located in Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ. Responsibilities
Partner in driving the industrialization of predictive sciences to understand the patient journey and triggers robustly for markets. Understand Gilead’s commercial business objectives and develop/scalable data science products and insights to influence decisions. Lead data science projects end‑to‑end, convert business questions into data science solutions, guide offshore teams, code, debug and communicate with stakeholders. Foster a culture of measurement and impact; continuously improve models. Bring thought leadership and thorough understanding of statistics, predictive algorithms and methodologies to construct robust propensity models. Create data science products that can be refreshed, reproduced and replicated. Work with other scientists and analysts to define retraining schedules and measure model impact. Partner with global teams to cross‑pollinate ideas and replicate successful models. Excellent communication and ability to abstract backend complexity where it is not needed. Competencies

Bachelor’s Degree and 10 Years’ Experience, Master’s Degree and 8 Years’ Experience or PhD and 5 Years’ Experience. Strong working knowledge of machine learning algorithms and AI‑based solutions with proven business impact. Strong leadership capable of managing initiatives from beginning to end himself/herself. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience
Experience optimizing AI‑based solutions for proven business impact. Experience with pharma and consumer data types and sources: patient claims, Xponent, Plantrak, sales, activity. Expertise in pharm‑specific datasets: IQVIA, Symphony, Komodo claims, Optum, Definitive Health, Health Verity, EMR/HER. Python proficiency: numpy, pandas, scikit‑learn, seaborn, networkx, etc. Data science techniques: ANCOVA, Bayesian statistics, econometric modeling, neural networks, logistic regression. Understanding of cloud technologies: Databricks, S3, etc. Product mindset, product management principles, cross‑functional teamwork. People Leader Accountabilities
