Director of Music and Arts Job at United Methodist Church in McComb

Centenary UMC is seeking a Director of Music & Arts to lead and develop the musical and artistic life of the church. This person will inspire creativity and worship through music - helping people of all ages grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. The position involves collaboration with clergy, staff, and volunteers to ensure worship services and special events reflect the mission and spirit of the church.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, and coordinate the overall music and arts ministry of the church with the pastor.
• Collaborate with staff to design creative worship experiences that reflect the themes of each service through music, drama, and visual arts.
• Direct and support choirs, ensembles, and music groups for children, youth, and adults, including the hand bell choir.
• Encourage and equip artists and musicians to use their gifts in worship and ministry.
• Plan and lead music for special services such as Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter, All Saints, and revivals.
• Oversee maintenance and care of musical instruments and sound equipment.
• Prepare and manage the annual music and arts budget, including purchasing materials and resources.
• Support and lead alternative or contemporary worship expressions when needed.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate on ministry planning.
• Pursue ongoing professional and spiritual growth through education and training opportunities.
• Oversight of audio and video for online worship.

Qualifications & Skills

• A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to serve through music and the arts.
• Degree in Choral Music or related field, or equivalent experience in church music leadership.
• Strong musical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and congregation members.
• Creative vision for integrating music and the arts into the life and worship of the church.
• Energetic, positive, and encouraging leadership style.
• Methodist background preferred.
