The Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute seeks a full-time faculty member specializing in instrumental music education to be appointed Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, effective July 1, 2026. Building on a long tradition of excellence in teacher training, the Department of Music Education seeks a strategic partner to raise the visibility of Peabody Music Education and heighten the program's impact on our local and regional communities.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses as well as graduate seminars in music education. Duties include advising graduate and undergraduate music education students, supervising field experiences and student teaching, and pursuing an agenda of research, scholarship, or creative work consistent with the candidate's expertise and interests in music education. Finally, the new hire will be a strategic partner in collaboration with outreach efforts in and around the City of Baltimore.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have a doctorate in Music Education, experience teaching at the collegiate level, and successful experience as a music educator in public schools (five years is preferred). Applicants should demonstrate evidence and potential for research and a record of professional/service activities in music education. Experience teaching instrumental music is required.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

The pre‑employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
