Overview Polysomnographic Technologist (Sleep Tech) – Lockport – Sleep Lab

Position Highlights:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Hours: Monday-Friday; 10-hour shifts 7:00am-5:30pm

Location: Lombard

Travel: Required between Lockport, Lombard and Naperville when needed

Responsibilities A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Supervisor and clinical direction of the pulmonary physicians who are diplomats of the ABSM. The technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This includes polysomnography, diagnostic, therapeutic services, and education. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of professional and courteous patient care. Has the ability to complete administrative tasks as well as technical duties. Will know established policies and procedures and be willing and able to assist in development and/ or modification.

Gather & review patient information -histories, medications, procedure request and study protocol

Explain procedures and orient patient to sleep lab

Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary

Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting

Follow procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc. to ensure collection of appropriate data

Follow "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline values

Perform polysomnographic data acquisition

Document routine observations

Implement appropriate interventions

Follow "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process

Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events

Generate accurate reports

Comply with applicable laws, regulations & guidelines

Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluations

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program leading to an associate’s degree with emphasis on polysomnography

Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program with emphasis on polysomnography or completion of ASTEP Program

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required OR Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) upon hire with RPSGT obtained within 6 months of hire

BLS certification required

A minimum of 3 years experience as a Polysomnographic Technician preferred.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $22.00-33.35, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
