Description We are seeking a Technical Writer who can translate sophisticated technology into clear, accurate, and polished documentation for our customers and partners. The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, updating, and managing high‑quality customer‑facing documents—including user manuals, hardware and software guides, training materials, datasheets, and sales collateral. In this role, you will work closely with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure our documentation is technically precise, visually clear, and consistent across all customer touchpoints.
Location San Luis Obispo, CA
Key Responsibilities
Develop, write, and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including user manuals, quick‑start guides, datasheets, release notes, API documentation, and training materials.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and subject‑matter experts to gather accurate technical information.
Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise content suitable for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Create content for customer‑facing sales and marketing materials such as brochures, presentations, and case studies.
Ensure documentation complies with internal quality standards, branding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Organize and manage documentation repositories, ensuring version control and accessibility.
Incorporate visual aids—diagrams, charts, screenshots, and illustrations—to support clarity and comprehension.
Participate in product reviews and testing to stay informed of updates, features, and functional behavior.
Continuously improve documentation processes and recommend tools, style guidelines, and workflows.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Journalism, Engineering, English, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
Strong understanding of engineering, scientific, or technical concepts, ideally in electronics, aerospace, RF systems, or related domains.
Demonstrated experience producing complex technical documentation for hardware, software, or integrated systems.
Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in a cross‑functional team environment.
Must be eligible to meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) access requirements.
Compensation
Hourly Rate $60.00 (10‑15 hours per week)
