Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Composition Application Deadline: January 8, 2026 Position: Tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Composition, beginning Fall 2026. Full‑time, on‑campus, in‑person. Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory and composition, including harmony, aural skills, counterpoint, and advanced composition classes as assigned. Contribute to the planning and delivery of courses for the Music Theory and Composition Divisions and fulfill the Director of Music’s instructional assignments. Engage in professional and School of Music activities, including performance, service, and participation in departmental and university initiatives. Conduct research and creative activities consistent with the expectations of a faculty member at a research‑active university. Required Qualifications: Doctorate in Music Composition or Theory (completed by August 2026). College‑level experience teaching music literacy, including harmony and aural skills for first‑ and second‑year students. Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of national or international recognition as a scholar and/or composer. Experience teaching advanced courses in the composition/music curriculum (e.g., Form and Analysis, Counterpoint, Instrumentation, Private Composition, Orchestration).
