Core Duties and Responsibilities
Editorial & Content Development
- Research breaking news, political topics, and current events relevant to primetime programming.
- Develop story ideas and segment structures aligned with the show's editorial direction.
- Ensure content is accurate, timely, and production-ready.
- Write, edit, and organize scripts and show elements for live and taped segments.
- Collaborate closely with Senior and Executive Producers to refine messaging and pacing.
- Fact-check scripts and ensure clarity, accuracy, and broadcast readiness.
- Identify and research potential guests.
- Conduct pre-interviews and prepare briefing materials.
- Coordinate guest logistics, scheduling, and on-air preparation.
- Support live broadcasts and taped segments, including timing, rundown execution, and last-minute editorial changes.
- Coordinate with control room, technical teams, and talent to ensure smooth show execution.
- Work closely with producers, directors, editors, and technical staff to align on show needs.
- Coordinate graphics, video packages, and other production elements.
- Maintain clear, professional communication across teams.
- Maintain production schedules, rundowns, contact lists, and show notes.
- Assist with day-to-day newsroom organization and workflow management.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a television news environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Communications, or a closely related field required.
- Editorial Skills: Strong news writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Subject Matter Knowledge: Solid understanding of U.S. politics, current events, and live news production.
- Interest Alignment: Demonstrated interest in conservative media, political coverage, and opinion-driven programming.
- Skills: Excellent organization, multitasking, and attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with newsroom systems, production tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Prior experience producing or assisting with live primetime programming.
- Familiarity with fast-moving political or opinion-based news coverage.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as news coverage requires.
