In support of the Program Manager Advanced Amphibious Assault, we are seeking a Technical Writer II who brings expertise in DoD Federal acquisition programs and a strong understanding of military standards, organizational protocols, and compliance requirements. Position Summary:
The Technical Writer II will be responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation that meets DoD and federal standards. You will work closely with engineers, developers, scientists, and program managers to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance across all deliverables. This position requires both technical precision and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable documentation for specialized audiences.
Job Duties:
Author and edit technical documentation including system specifications, SOPs, user manuals, training materials, maintenance manuals, and tactical guides.
Ensure compliance with DoD style manuals, DA/DoD format guides, GSA printing regulations, and customer-specific instructions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical information and align documentation with program objectives.
Provide editorial and quality assurance support for reports, proposals, and regulatory submissions.
Lead documentation strategies that support agile development cycles and evolving program requirements.
Simplify complex technical concepts for audiences ranging from developers to senior technology leaders.
Conduct thorough research to ensure documentation is persuasive, accurate, and aligned with federal acquisition regulations.
Participate in formal and informal reviews throughout the development cycle to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with two to four (2-4) years of experience.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online publishing tools (Ventura, XML, Word).
Familiarity with documentation tools such as Markdown, DITA, Confluence.
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Experience in DoD acquisition processes, Technical Manuals (TMs), and Modification Work Orders (MWOs).
Ability to work in agile environments and apply prototyping techniques to refine documentation.
Specific/Preferred Requirements:
Experience drafting and editing SOPs, maintenance manuals, and tactical guides tailored to Marine Corps operations.
Expertise in preparing and editing regulatory documentation submissions.
Knowledge of customer-specific requirements and defense acquisition compliance.
SECRET clearance is required for this position.
