Role summary As a UX Designer III at Walmart, on the Data Experiences team, you’ll be designing expert systems to support both financial and people data internal platforms. You’ll bring together multiple data sources to help our financial and people data partners gather insights, build confidence in our data explainability, and ultimately help make critical business decisions. You’ll set the vision for the best customer experience and create a space for cross‑functional colleagues to collaborate. Using the Design Thinking process, you’ll collaborate with partner teams, conduct research, facilitate conversations, create concepts, run design sprints, and build rapid prototypes to leverage collective creativity. You’ll employ storytelling to present your vision and product design rationale in a compelling, convincing manner to cross‑functional partners and the leadership team. While working with partners to determine a shared plan forward that balances business and technology considerations, you’ll create and champion an experience that is highly usable before delivering pixel‑perfect designs. You’ll drive inclusive, scalable, useful solutions, transform complex information into easy‑to‑use patterns, evangelize design systems, and embed them across the organization. About the team The Walmart Design team creates experiences and designs the websites, tools, and mobile solutions for millions of customers and associates. As part of the Product Design team’s Data Experiences subset, you’ll build best‑in‑class experiences that drive continuous improvement and innovation on the world’s largest company. The team designs interface and platform experiences that integrate financial and people data for internal use, supporting partners in gaining insights, enhancing data explainability, and enabling informed business decisions. Collaboration across functions ensures alignment with business goals while maintaining high standards in interface and interaction design. Actively soliciting feedback from peers and cross‑functional stakeholders through the product design lifecycle. Engaging the design research team at the right points during the design process to ensure the right insights inform the work. Rapid prototyping and experimenting in a fast‑paced environment. Multitasking across different projects and adapting to changing priorities. Creating scalable experiences in partnership with our Design System team. Working with our Design System team to expand the component library. Championing the Design Thinking philosophy throughout the business. Communicating effectively with kindness and empathy. Collaborating seamlessly with cross‑functional partners. Staying up to date with the latest trends, in and out of retail. Preferred qualifications Degree in Graphic Design, HCI, or similar and at least 2+ years of experience in product design. Have a fantastic portfolio of thoughtful design solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication. Preferred having experience designing complex data, analytics, or AI tools. Design certification (e.g., IDEOU – Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate). Driving product development in a user experience area. Master’s degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area. Related industry experience (e.g., retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare). Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 2 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 4 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
