Position: Lead Web Developer & Manager
Bringing at least twelve years of professional experience, the Lead Web Developer & Manager will lead large‑scale website initiatives, manage enterprise‑level CMS deployments, and contribute to digital strategy. The role demands a proven ability to collaborate across marketing functions (SEO, content, paid media) while ensuring technical excellence and alignment with university goals.
Key technical experience includes:
Enterprise CMS platforms such as WordPress or Drupal (including multisite, Gutenberg, and modern theme frameworks).
Marketing and analytics platforms including Marketo, Salesforce, GA4, GTM, and VWO.
AI‑driven technologies and optimization for AI overview and generative engine optimization (GEO).
Implementation and analysis of A/B testing, multivariate testing, conversion optimization, and user experience tracking.
Lead‑generation form integration tied to marketing automation systems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Hands‑on web development, maintenance, and implementation across Alliant’s marketing websites.
Collaboration with the VP of Website Strategy, SEO & Web Performance Specialist, and Paid Media team to support digital planning and technical initiatives.
Primary technical contact for the university’s marketing websites; ensure reliability, accessibility, speed, and data integrity.
Maintain and enhance integrations with marketing and analytics platforms.
Execute A/B and multivariate testing; build dashboards and reports covering SEO, UX behavior, site performance, AI overview visibility, and form conversion analytics.
Support content migrations, feature enhancements, and ongoing site optimization initiatives.
Participate in RFP reviews, vendor evaluations, and technical discussions.
Coordinate work with external contractors, ensuring quality and alignment with technical standards.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university partners to address web requests and maintain consistent user experience across sites.
Mentor future web team contributors and assist with onboarding as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory & Technical Responsibilities
The position has no direct reports but may assign technical tasks to contractors or contributors and provide technical guidance without supervising staff.
Work Location, Hours & Travel
Remote with occasional limited on‑campus visits; standard office hours with occasional off‑hours support.
Limited travel for training, conferences, or vendor collaboration.
Work Environment
Remote work environment using computers and related technology. Virtual coordination may occur during deployments or maintenance activities.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting Salary: $120,000 annualized, Full‑Time, Exempt.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (equivalent experience accepted).
Experience: At least twelve years professional experience in web development; hands‑on work with enterprise CMS platforms, modern front‑end and back‑end practices, analytics‑driven optimization, A/B testing, web performance, UX tracking, and AI‑driven technologies. Prior experience coordinating contractors is beneficial; no staff management or budget oversight.
Certifications: None required; web technology certifications (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, WordPress VIP) are a plus.
Skills: Advanced proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, RESTful API development; strong web architecture, security, and scalable hosting knowledge; deep knowledge of technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, structured data, AI‑related optimization, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, web analytics (GA4, Looker Studio), AI analytics tools, project management tools (Asana or Monday.com); excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
