Cinetic Marketing and PR is a boutique public relations firm specializing in film and television. Our projects include American Independent and studio/streaming releases, documentaries and international films. We are a small hard‑working team made up of people with interests ranging from Italian Neorealism to The Real Housewives.
About the Position
Cinetic is seeking a New York‑based publicist to spearhead the firm’s documentary publicity campaigns. The candidate will work on documentary films only. The role requires proactive, detail‑oriented organizational skills, strong management and communication abilities. Responsibilities include leading campaigns from festival premieres, theatrical or streaming releases through to awards season.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industry, with a deep interest and knowledge of documentary film.
- Self‑starter, energetic, resourceful, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while exercising good judgment in high‑stress situations.
- Ability to create dynamic strategies for campaigns while navigating obstacles as they arise.
- Able to work with various levels of talent, filmmakers, press, and executives in a professional manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for the creation of press releases, talking points, media training, pitches, press notes and overall talent and filmmaker communications.
- Strong relationships with key journalists in the industry including film, TV and awards in the theatrical and streaming communities.
- Understands that PR is not a 9‑5 job and is willing to travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Oversee strategic documentary publicity campaigns for theatrical film releases, streaming premieres, episodic programming, awards (TV and film), as well as festival campaigns.
- Collaborate with the rest of the team across all departments and titles.
- Manage and work closely with others on project positioning, maintaining press contacts and databases as well as awards timelines for all titles.
- Maintain relationships throughout the industry including press, programmers, filmmakers, guilds, AMPAS, producers, sales agents and distributors.
Additional Information
The Publicist will report to the Senior Vice President of Documentary Publicity and also have a junior support across all campaigns.
In addition to salary, other rewards may include discretionary bonuses.
