DIRECTOR-COMMUNICATIONS-PROVOST (T232123)
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Director of Communications for the Office of the Provost. This position requires collaboration to support the fast-paced, high-trust, and highly visible work of the provost and academic leadership. The Director will lead the development, preparation, and execution of communications that advance the provost's priorities and elevate academic initiatives across the university.
Responsibilities include drafting and refining executive communications, remarks, messaging frameworks, and briefing materials, and coordinating closely with University Marketing and Communications, communicators across the academic enterprise, and other divisions of the university as appropriate. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Director of Communications serves an important and highly visible role in the Office of the Provost. The successful candidate will bring excellent writing, research, editorial, web, and overall communication skills, a strong leadership presence, a collaborative approach, and an ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate is an articulate, diplomatic communicator who handles confidential information with discretion and engages constructively with colleagues and campus partners.
Annual Salary: $67,070 - $108,990
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
