Deputy Director, Vehicle Design Acquisition & Allocations
The New York Police Department’s Fleet Services Division is seeking a Deputy Director to oversee vehicle design, acquisition, and allocation. This position is open exclusively to current NYPD employees.
Mission:
The mission of the NYPD is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by fostering a safe community through partnership, law enforcement, and strategic innovation. The Fleet Services Division ensures the upkeep and repair of all NYPD vehicles and contracted agency vehicles.
Responsibilities
Acquire new vehicles for the department.
Receive and prepare new vehicles for deployment.
Design specialty vehicles, handle relinquishments, and manage salvaged parts.

Additional Information In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the immigration eligibility verification document upon hire.

Qualifications
Seven years of full‑time satisfactory experience as an Auto Machinist, Auto Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Electrician (Automobile), or Machinist with at least two years at a supervisory level; OR
At least five years of experience in the roles described above plus appropriate training from an approved trade, technical or vocational high school, or relevant college education to make up the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience is credited for each year of approved trade or vocational high school, and one year of acceptable experience for each 30 semester credits in college. All candidates must have the two years of supervisory experience described above.
License Requirements Possession of a valid New York Motor Vehicle Driver License for the duration of employment. Certain positions may require a Class B Commercial Driver License with no restrictions.
