About the Role Spiegelworld is looking for a Technical Director to join the team at Absinthe at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The Technical Director is responsible for upholding the look, feel and vibe of the day‑to‑day operations and building needs of the production. As Technical Director you will coordinate with the Production Manager, Senior Production Stage Manager, and Resident Director on all production activities and operations, and adjust daily and weekly schedules as needed. In addition, the Technical Director will be responsible for scheduling and managing the union crew. This position reports to the Production Manager and the salary is $88,400/year.
Responsibilities
Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.
Responsible for nightly show operations.
Complete regular maintenance tasks.
Ensure that the venue is safety compliant and keep records of all safety related issues and concerns.
Always maintain a safe working environment by conforming to all established safety policies and procedures.
Responsible for emergency protocols in regards to the lifter line and aerial rescues.
Manage, inspect, and repair winch and show related rigging systems.
Maintain/update weekly and biweekly inspections.
Work collaboratively with Stage Management in rehearsals and put‑in rehearsals.
Work collaboratively with F&B and FOH operations, managers, and team on nightly events.
Provide constant communication with the Production Manager and Facilities team on day‑to‑day maintenance.
Manage the union and Artistic Rigging crew in collaboration with the Production Manager.
Keeping logs and paperwork for items and supplies needed as well as purchasing materials for general show operations.
Oversee for opening and closing the site as needed.
Basic understanding and troubleshooting capabilities with temporary worksite equipment ie: container offices, and trailers, HVAC, and electrical.
Actively engage in our antiracist commitment and internal practices by participating in offered learnings, engaging in conversations around Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, and helping us maintain a safe and welcoming workspace.
Perform other duties as required by your manager.
Qualifications
Advanced Knowledge of Lighting, Audio and Rigging equipment
Able to effectively communicate in English in written and verbal forms
Basic knowledge computer software to include Google Suite and Microsoft Office, as well as office equipment, i.e. laminator, P‑touch labeler and copier
Excellent organizational skills
Attention to detail
Ability to effectively delegate projects
Strong problem‑solving skills
Ability to exhibit extreme patience
High School Diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience in managing in a theatrical environment
Minimum 5 years professional experience in theatrical or circus rigging.
Comfortable working at heights, basic power tool knowledge, comfortable being in an indoor and outdoor environment, light electrical knowledge
OSHA 30 or completed in 90 days upon employment
Successful background check clearance and reference checks prior to hire
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled/needed
Must have valid work authorization for the US
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a high volume professional food service and theatre environment.
Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, and work outdoors in all weather.
