Lycoming College is excited to announce an opening for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies for the Fall 2026 semester.

We are seeking a student-centered educator with a master’s degree or higher who has a strong background or industry experience in one of the following areas:

  • Media and Digital Culture: Including public opinion, trends forecasting, online behavior, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI).
  • Public Discourse: Including journalism, sports media, political communication, and intercultural communication.
  • Research and Analysis: Including media and communication theory, research writing, and analysis.
  • Strategic Communication: Including advertising, public relations, and social media.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Teach a 3-3 course load, including both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses.
  • Develop new courses in line with your expertise and department needs.
  • Engage with students beyond the classroom through mentorship and advising.
  • Participate in service to the department and the college.

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree or higher.
  • Experience or clear plans for effective college-level teaching.
  • A record or potential for contributions to the field through involvement in industry, publications, or creative work.
  • A commitment to liberal arts education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • The ability to engage students in various academic and extracurricular contexts.

Housing in a college-owned rental property may be available, subject to availability.
