Qualifications: - Education Level - Bachelors Degree. Masters Degree in Library and Information Science. - Certification / License - Valid Missouri teaching certificate with certification in school library media specialist. - Experience - Three years teaching experience with technology background and/or training - Additional requirements - Must successfuly pass a background check. Computer literate and ability to administer circulation software.
Performance Responsibilities: - Demonstrate leadership in development of the WMS library media program using above average skills in communication, technology, curriculum development, and innovative teaching strategies. - Involve stakeholders in visioning, budgeting, program planning, and collection development. - Create and maintain a flexible library media center schedule so students and staff have physical and digital access to a wide range of materials. - Plan and implement special reading promotion programs for students. - Support teachers' efforts in identifying quality resources and integrating literacy into the curriculum. - Design and implement activities that help students learn to identify, analyze, and synthesize information by using a variety of materials and formats. - Collaborate with teachers and other library media specialists through the process of designing, implementing, and evaluating instruction. - Provide multi-disciplinary approaches to teaching and learning. - Collaborate with teachers in the integration of library skills into the K-12 curriculum. - Cooperatively select appropriate print and non-print material for the students being served. - Integrate technology as a tool for student and staff learning. - Identify and utilize quality information technology applications. - Create documents in a variety of computer applications on multiple platforms. - Facilitate the use of presentation tools in print, technology, and various media formats. - Provide building level orientation and training on technology in the library media center. -Serve as an expert in organizing, synthesising, and communicating information about the library media center program to our school community. - Communicate with staff memebers about new materials, technology, research, and other professional materials. - Design the library media center physical space in response to the needs of those that utilize it. - Demonstrate leadership in student growth and teacher professional development. - Maintain library circulation software for collection and required inventory.
