As Senior Social Media Manager you will raise the profile of IonQ’s brand, subject matter experts and thought leadership through strategic use of organic social media on LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and other channels. Your work will articulate, drive, and measure the company’s organic social media presence, ensuring alignment with global marketing priorities and positioning IonQ on a global scale and in recruiting.
Responsibilities Leverage data, insights and competitive intelligence to set clear objectives for the organic social media strategy, identify growth opportunities and deliver a content strategy that maximizes full social media platform impact.
Document and evangelize best practices, craft playbooks, and create a self‑service model that shares information across the organization.
Possess working knowledge of day‑to‑day SM community management and social media operations such as content creation processes, editorial and content strategy, core data analytics platforms (SOV and SOM: Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Datorama) and KPI development.
Create and publish relevant, original, high‑quality social content that showcases IonQ’s capabilities and differentiators.
Tell compelling stories and partner with creatives to package and promote content for effective delivery.
Maintain a comprehensive content calendar that aligns timing of communications across functions.
Recommend paid social opportunities to amplify content against priority stakeholders worldwide.
Manage external agency partners/vendors who provide strategic insight and serve as an extension of the team.
Collaborate with community management teams to drive and oversee ongoing platform development.
Work with legal, compliance and other teams to update the social media policy and ensure new practices are understood and implemented.
Develop analytics to identify trends and themes, implement a test‑and‑learn approach, and optimize social media strategy.
Oversee social listening to mitigate issues and protect the brand across key channels.
Collaborate with videographers, graphic artists and video editors on story briefings, planning process, and creating compelling content across channels (video, podcast, newsletter, social media, short/long‑form written, infographics).
Establish a social media strategy that includes strategic distribution, paid social, governance framework, and appropriate ecosystem.
Evaluate, identify and onboard the social media tech stack for efficiency, including publishing, listening and care, employee advocacy, data analysis and creative tools.
You'd be a great fit with Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
7+ years of leading organic social media for a global enterprise.
Solid understanding of social media platforms and monitoring tools.
Advanced analytical thinking and problem‑solving.
Sense of urgency and commitment to quality and proof‑reading for every post.
Ability to translate abstract deep‑tech and ambiguous information into meaningful facts for business partners.
Excellent communication skills, ability to influence and educate all levels of stakeholders, including executive leadership.
Negotiation and consensus‑building skills when dealing with internal customers.
Leadership and influence across interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Collaborative spirit and ability to build trust with others.
Location: This position can work onsite or hybrid from one of our offices (College Park, MD, Bothell, WA) or fully remote in the US.

Compensation: The approximate base salary range for this position is $108,438 – $141,407. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.

Our headquarters is located in College Park, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. We are also building a manufacturing facility near Seattle. Depending on the position, you may be required near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, Toronto, or Basel, Switzerland, but we will expand into additional geographies.
