HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE
The Segment Producer/Booker will produce discussion segments for EWTN News Nightly, and other shows produced out of the EWTN DC studios as needed, on national/international news from a Catholic perspective and fulfill other responsibilities with a strict deadline to produce consistent high-quality newscasts. The Segment Producer/Booker will also research and schedule guests, finalize all necessary details between guests and the control room, and manage the newsroom’s editorial calendar and daily agenda.
What You Will Do
Produce discussion segments on national/international news and issues from a Catholic perspective, identify original content that would make for interesting discussion segments across all shows.
Research potential guests and stories; pitch guest and content ideas to Executive Producer and each show’s editorial team during daily planning meetings; book qualified guests, conduct preliminary interviews, and conduct technical tests.
Build and foster relationships with potential guests, press contacts, Congressional staff, and Catholic contacts in a professional manner.
Manage daily agenda; communicate details to entire bureau to include a rundown of daily activities for each show.
Review and pull video for discussion segments; visualize and order graphics for discussion segments; collaborate with teams to assist in achieving relevant and compelling news content and presentation.
About You
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a newsroom environment, preferably in a Producer or Scheduler role.
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Broadcast, Communications, or related field.
Practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Faith and commitment to EWTN’s mission; strong network of contacts within the Catholic community preferred.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with a meticulous level of attention to detail.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, and active listening skills with the ability to represent EWTN in a professional and engaging manner.
Solid understanding of the EWTN News mission, particularly in regard to focus and guests/stories that would interest our global audience.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft products (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel), A/P news software, and ENPS. Prior experience with database management preferred.
Demonstrated strong news judgment.
Flexibility to work an adjusted schedule when necessary for breaking news and special event coverage.
