The Team The Software Application Architect – Content Platforms & Platform Services will play a pivotal role in our strategic transformation from product to platform-centric cloud software engineering. These efforts are occurring within the broader context of major strategic initiatives to extend our market leadership and build next‑generation software platforms as we pivot to a platform company.
Responsibilities and Impact
Lead architectural design and implementation of next‑generation cloud‑based content platforms, including Content Creation, Newsletter platforms, Real‑time news platforms, and Price Reporting systems as part of S&P Global's strategic transformation to a platform‑centric company
Partner with Technology, Product Management, and Business Stakeholders to analyze business strategy and translate requirements into scalable, serverless cloud architectures using AWS services
Design and build application and technology architecture concepts, creating comprehensive architecture artifacts while establishing project scope, estimates, and deliverable timeframes for business case development
Drive modernization of existing platforms through architectural improvements, integration solutions, and optimization of object‑oriented software engineering methodologies
Lead cross‑functional technical activities involving database, networking, development, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration across authentication, content creation, archiving, publishing, and delivery systems
Champion enterprise reference architectures and development standards, mentoring teams on best practices while balancing business priorities with technical requirements in a fast‑paced, innovative environment
Compensation/Benefits Information (US only) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $185,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For Basic Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience in software architecture and development
12+ years of overall software development experience with at least 3+ years in high‑level architecture design and implementation
Expert‑level proficiency in a Java‑based or open‑source ecosystem, with strong experience in building enterprise‑scale applications and microservices architectures
Proven experience designing and implementing cloud‑native architectures using AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudFormation
Strong background in database technologies, including both relational and NoSQL database solutions for enterprise applications
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, along with CI/CD platforms for automated deployment and integration
Experience with big data processing frameworks and distributed computing technologies for handling large‑scale data workloads
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including product management, business stakeholders, and development teams in an Agile environment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to architect scalable solutions that meet both current and future business requirements
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
Experience with advanced AWS services such as EKS, ECS, Step Functions, or serverless architectures for complex enterprise solutions
Background in financial services, capital markets, commodity markets, or regulatory technology with an understanding of industry‑specific requirements and compliance standards
Experience leading technical teams or mentoring senior developers in architecture best practices and design patterns
