Role Description
The University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a dedicated Assistant Professor of Photography, to join the Department of Art and Art History. This full‑time, on‑site role in Boulder, CO, involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in photography, developing curriculum, advising students, and promoting a vibrant learning atmosphere. The Assistant Professor will also be engaged in creative research, advancing their own practice in photography while contributing to the academic community. Participation in university service and collaboration with faculty to develop innovative teaching methods and opportunities will also be integral to this role.
Qualifications
Strong technical proficiency in digital and traditional photography, as well as a deep understanding of contemporary practices and historical contexts.
Experience in curriculum development, teaching excellence, and engaging students in studio and critical discourse.
Capacity to effectively communicate ideas through oral, written, and visual forms, and the ability to inspire and mentor students.
Clear evidence of sustained creative and professional work in photography or related fields.
A Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent, with prior teaching experience at a collegiate level.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.
Willingness to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and engage in community outreach and service activities that contribute to the department and university’s mission.
