Position Summary: Performs intermediate administrative support work assisting students in the media center, helping to maintain the order and cleanliness of the media center, assisting when media specialist is not present, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Media Specialist. Role also supervises all levels during recess.
Essential Functions: Monitors and supervises students using the media center. Assists students and staff in locating resource materials for specific projects and conducting catalog searches. Maintains books, catalogs, supplies and equipment. Processes new catalog materials to include: preparing bar coding, preparing library cards, shelving materials in proper order, and ensuring accurate maintenance of inventory records. Assists with cleaning, organizing and repairing library materials. Covers and repairs books and media. Assists with the locating and retrieval of books and media at year end. Assists with the selection and disposal of outdated or damaged materials. Supervises students while out at recess.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
