Overview
The Senior Report Writer supports advanced reporting needs across Human Capital Management (HCM), Financials, and Student domains. This role designs, builds, and maintains sophisticated Workday reports that provide actionable insights to leadership and drive data‑informed decision‑making. It utilizes a broad and deep understanding of all areas of Workday Reporting & Analytics—including Report Writer, Prism Analytics, Composite Reporting, BIRT, Calculated Fields, Dashboards, Discovery Boards, and Worksheets—to provide professional services and enablement for the enterprise cloud software.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Design and develop complex custom reports in Workday using Advanced, Matrix, Composite, Trending, and BIRT reports.
Partner with HR, Finance, Student Services, and Institutional Research teams to support operational and strategic reporting needs, translating requirements into accurate and meaningful reports.
Build dashboards and scorecards using Workday Prism Analytics, Workday Discovery Boards (if available), and other Workday tools.
Maintain reporting documentation, data dictionaries, and metadata to support institutional transparency and reusability.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to reporting performance, data discrepancies, and user access, proactively identifying opportunities to improve data accessibility and self‑service through training.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and skills normally obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, business administration, or a related field with three (3) years hands‑on experience building Workday reports across multiple domains (HCM, Finance, Payroll). Workday Certification in at least one of the following: Workday Financials, Workday Reporting, Advanced Reporting is required. Proficiency in Workday reporting tools—including Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and BIRT reports—is required. Strong understanding of Workday data structures, business processes, and security models is needed. Experience with data visualization tools or Workday Prism Analytics is a plus.
Location & Work Arrangement
Hybrid; in‑office presence a minimum of three days a week to facilitate collaboration and teamwork. In‑office presence is an essential part of our on‑campus culture.
