Job Title: Designer - Transmission Line. At QISG, we use in-house talent, expertise and resources to plan, design, engineer, manage, conduct maintenance on and construct projects. This turnkey project execution strategy ensures a single point of contact to handle projects of any size from beginning to end and enables a cohesive Quanta Services team to enter the project life cycle at the earliest stage possible. What Youin The Designer, Transmission will perform routine Transmission Line design assignments, which requires knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedure. Thorough knowledge of design standards, material, and CAD software will be required. Experience with 3D design software packages is preferred. This position will report to a Lead Designer and support transmission line projects across the QISG platform. What Youinish Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various transmission line projects. Utilize 3D design software for transmission line design. Demonstrate knowledge of quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship. Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work. Research information in catalogs, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material. Learn and properly use the document management system and suggest improvements. Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices. Flag potential project-related problems and propose solutions to the responsible party. Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments. Perform other duties as assigned. What Youinish (Qualifications) Associates degree in Drafting & Design is preferred. Experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the electric utility industry performing detailed CAD/design for high voltage transmission line projects. Experience with 3D design software (AutoCad Inventor, SDS, etc.) is preferred. Word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software. Extensive knowledge of various CAD programs. Basic knowledge of the major components of transmission lines. Basic oral and written communications. Working in a team environment and communicating effectively with co-workers. Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.
