We’re currently seeking a Principal Product Designer to join our DevX (Developer Experience) Design team. In this role you’ll collaborate with cross‑functional partners in product and engineering to map current‑state pain points, develop a vision for the future, and ship next‑gen tooling that will be used across the enterprise. You will work alongside designers to understand and improve the day‑to‑day workflows of our technologists.

Role Expectations

As a Product Designer, you’ll combine craftsmanship with a deep understanding of our customers and the business to co‑create innovative solutions to complex problems.

Competencies

• Product Design Expertise: Leverage deep expertise in product design, interaction, visual and service design to elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice. Collaborate with cross‑functional partners, use appropriate tools and design systems, and create artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs and prototypes.
• Human‑Centered: Champion the customer through the design process, factoring in data, research insights, scalability, technical constraints and feedback.
• Business‑Focused: Understand and apply business and customer strategy, facilitate design process activities, and negotiate customer needs with business goals.
• Problem‑Solving: Build an understanding of technological and data capabilities, use this knowledge to inform work, identify new opportunities and help navigate technical limitations.
• Collaboration: Foster relationships with partners, expand your network, listen to diverse viewpoints and influence outcomes while breaking down silos.
• Communication: Present work to audiences across levels using a human‑centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data and research insights.

Basic Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in a Product Design role.
• At least 3 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in a Product Design role.
• At least 4 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• At least 4 years of experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners.
• At least 4 years of experience working with an established design system.
• Experience in software development and coding.
• Experience working in heavily regulated, data‑heavy problem spaces.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges are provided by location: McLean, VA: $127,500–$145,500; New York, NY: $139,100–$158,700; Richmond, VA: $115,900–$132,200; San Francisco, CA: $139,100–$158,700. The role may also earn performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
