Associate Director, Retention Marketing & Subscriber Cohort Analysis – WSJ Join Dow Jones to lead subscriber retention analysis, insights, forecasting, and budgeting across our B2C brands, including WSJ, WSJ+, Barron's, and MarketWatch.

About the Role As Associate Director, you will develop a detailed understanding of why subscribers are/are not renewing their subscriptions through daily, weekly, and monthly analysis of all subscriber cohorts. You will communicate these insights, integrate them with the rest of the team, and optimize the overall retention strategy.

This role requires a candidate with experience in subscription strategy and renewals, retention and pricing journeys, and forecasting retention performance across all subscriber cohorts.

You will build a holistic retention strategy across Dow Jones’ B2C wealth and investing brands, products, and services, including Barron's and MarketWatch. Reporting to our Senior Director, Retention, you will lead subscriber cohort insights, forecasting, budgeting, and collaborate cross-functionally with Acquisition, CRM, Customer Service, Data Science, Finance, Product, and Technology teams. One Manager will report to you. You will work in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week.

You Will

Report retention insights through detailed cohort analysis of the full B2C subscriber base, partnering with the data science team to develop new retention strategies and optimize existing customer journeys.

Develop processes to turn insights and analyses into actionable strategies across pricing, communications, and customer experience to increase retention and LTV.

Partner with the subscriber acquisition team to optimize the full funnel across all cohorts and introductory offers, driving long-term retention.

Lead all retention forecasting in partnership with data science and finance, driving the business narrative behind retention performance for individual cohorts and optimizing strategies to grow revenue.

Own the expense budget process for the retention team across all B2C subscriber cohorts.

Focus on retaining wealth and investing subscriptions through a personalized retention journey and strategy.

Manage one Retention Manager to execute retention strategies and oversee end-to-end UI/UX experimentation from concept to implementation to distill resulting data.

You Have

The willingness and ability to work in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days per week.

10 years of experience in customer/subscriber retention with a focus on building insights through cohort analysis.

Demonstrated ability to increase revenue through complex pricing strategies.

Experience leading retention forecasting and budgeting.

Expertise in subscription-based businesses.

Experience managing a 7-figure P&L budget.

Experience with analytics software (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Tableau).

Outstanding quantitative reasoning skills.

Experience managing a direct report(s) preferred, but not required.

A bachelor's degree in marketing or business administration required.
