The Instruction and Reference Librarian oversees the librarys General Education information literacy program and all aspects of research assistance services. This position also manages a team of part-time Evening/Weekend supervisors, serves as the librarys liaison to the Education department and other assigned subject areas. Responsibilities: ? Information Literacy: Manage and schedule information literacy services for the General Education program and participate in the teaching of information literacy sessions. Assess the information literacy program, collaborate with faculty and library staff, and develop curricular activities for information literacy sessions. ? Research Assistance: Manage, schedule, and provide individual and small group research support for students and faculty in-person and virtually (e.g., chat, video conferencing). Develop and implement policies and procedures, assessment, and best practices. Manage the reference collection and reference budget. ? Supervision: Manage a team of part-time Evening/Weekend Supervisors who provide research assistance and general library support. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising. ? Information Commons and Library Classroom: In collaboration with the Library Operations Supervisor, maintain the physical space, set policies and procedures, and assess services. ? Liaison: Subject liaison duties (research assistance, information literacy, collection development, outreach) for the Education department and other subject areas as assigned. ? Orientation: Manage, schedule, and prepare first-year orientation activities for the library and collaborate with other departments housed in the library building. ? Participate in the librarys marketing, social media, and outreach efforts. ? Take part in professional development opportunities. ? Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education and Experience: ? Masters degree in library/information science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association. ? 2+ years of library experience preferred. ? Reference and instruction experience in an academic library preferred. ? Teaching experience required ? Supervisory experience required Technology Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite and other related computer skills. Experience with online tutorials, bibliographic management tools, web-based research guides (e.g., LibGuides), and video conferencing/online collaboration tools preferred. Human Relations Skills: Excellent customer service skills. Communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to work as part of a team and independently as required. Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability , socio-economic background, or job type. Other Requirements: ?
