Job Description
As a Weekend Associate Producer at the NBC News Washington Bureau, you will play a critical role in the news organization’s Washington beat coverage. In this highly collaborative job, you will work closely with the news desk, beat correspondents and other producers on key shift. The Weekend AP will spend their time working between the Washington DC Bureau and key beats, with a focus on the White House and Capitol Hill. You should be willing to work flexible hours, days, and holidays, with a willingness to travel.
Responsibilities
Supporting key DC beats in all news gathering efforts
Log beat-related events and background calls during their shifts
Field produce correspondents as necessary
Assist in breaking news & on-going story coverage, including through reporting and research
Work with correspondents to prepare for live, taped and written reports for all NBC News Group platforms
Utilize a variety of logging platforms, such as Otter and Media Central
Pitch original story ideas for all platforms
Shoot iPhone video of newsmakers in circumstances where cameras are not allowed/available
Other responsibilities may change depending on breaking news and scheduling
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 2 years editorial experience working in production at a network/cable news operation
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Must be willing to live and work in Washington, D.C.
Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and travel
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Proven ability to prioritize and make critical decisions under tight deadlines
Team player who can also work independently and is a self-starter
Demonstrated field producing experience
Strong reporting, writing and research skills
Knowledge of the daily production needs of news programs, and special reports
Hybrid
This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time
