Piping Designer
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Designer to join our consulting engineering team. This role involves designing and drafting piping systems, including utilities, chemical, steam, condensate, cooling water, compressed air, and process gas lines for industrial facilities such as automotive, chemical, food and beverage, and more. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D modeling software and a strong understanding of piping codes, materials, and layout principles. Responsibilities Develop piping layouts and isometric drawings using CAD software. Collaborate with engineers to interpret project specifications and process flow diagrams (PFDs and P&IDs). Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical) to resolve design conflicts. Perform field visits to gather data and verify existing conditions. Support construction and procurement teams with accurate documentation and material take-offs. Essential Skills 4+ years of industrial piping design experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D or 3D. Familiarity with ANSI and API piping codes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical degree. Experience with process gas lines like hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Work Environment Typical engineering office with cubicles and offices. The dress code is business casual to casual, allowing jeans and a polo, but not tennis shoes and tee shirts. Working hours are flexible, starting between 7-8 AM and ending between 3:30-5 PM, with a typical 40-hour work week. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $43.00/hr.
