Duties and Responsibilities Providing friendly and helpful service to library patrons of all ages through mobile outreach and off-site programs. Assisting with planning and delivering library programs and outreach activities for children, teens, and adults. Working with community partners and organizations to promote library services and resources. Helping patrons with reference questions and readers' advisory using print and digital materials. Assisting patrons and community members with electronic resources, technology, and internet use. Supporting the development and upkeep of outreach and deposit collections. Representing the library system at outreach events, community programs, and off-site meetings. Assisting with Talking Books and Home Borrower Services as needed. Organizing, shelving, and transporting library materials for outreach activities. Loading, unloading, and setting up books, supplies, and displays for outreach events. Driving outreach vehicles and traveling throughout the county to community locations. Working in office and outdoor settings, including various weather conditions. Working occasional evenings and weekends for outreach programs and special events. Position Details and Work Environment: A typical week includes supporting Talking Books and Books-by-Mail services, as well as assisting the mobile outreach team. Duties may include preparing outreach deliveries for deposit collection locations and working at various off-site community outreach locations. Most work hours are scheduled during the daytime, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required when outreach events and programs need staffing. To succeed in this role, you'll need strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community. You should be comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, teens, and those who speak languages other than English. Initiative, creativity, and flexibility are keyalong with a willingness to grow and learn. Spanish language skills are a plus. Education, Experience, Licensing A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree or two years of college coursework Two years of customer service or closely related experience A valid Florida Driver's License Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. One year of experience in a library setting Supplemental Information Work Schedule: Part-time, 40 hours bi-weekly, with variable hours that may include evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays Location Flexibility: Employees may be reassigned temporarily or permanently to other locations in the system based on operational needs Team Culture: You'll be part of a dedicated team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and outstanding serviceboth to the public and to one another Emergency Response/Recovery Activities: All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed.
