Communications Office Video Production Technician
As an employee of the Communications Office, the incumbent completes the full range of operations and production projects as follows: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot live audio, video and recording equipment for events and press conferences Shoot and edit on-location and in-house videos assigned by communications leaders Manage and track progress of projects to ensure timely completion Establishes and manages a master calendar of production projects and requests Assists in the training and guidance of production technicians Ensure on-time execution and delivery of high-quality video content Travel on a regular basis (approximately 20%) to support field productions and events Assist in developing and pitching video story ideas Act as crew chief/field producer for certain off-site shoots Set up and operate in field productions Function as editor on advanced video production projects Conduct interviews with video subjects Coach on-screen talent and voice talent Maintain equipment inventory and ensuring proper operation and safety of all production hardware Note: As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle OR otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Six years of experience in one or more of the following assignment areas with a national network, local network television affiliate, cable news, commercial media production facility, marketing communications agency or related operation. College study in a related field may be substituted for up to four years of experience with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience. a) Engineering or newsroom technology specialist, master control operator, media ingest operator, and/or media data center operator; OR b) Production planner, production assistant, traffic coordinator, assistant account executive, or assignment editor; OR c) News videographer, studio camera operator, art director, copywriter, graphic designer, video editor, producer, or web designer; OR d) Broadcast engineer, uplink engineer, maintenance engineer, or broadcast systems integration Preferred Qualifications
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders Experience producing, shooting, and editing high quality video content Strong cinematography and photography skills An excellent eye for lighting, staging, framing and creative filming techniques to create dynamic and impactful videos Technologically savvy When needed, ability to travel throughout New York State to various DOL events to shoot and produce content on a deadline Ability to work both in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and independently Proficiency operating and troubleshooting audio for live events such as press conferences, awards ceremonies, and/or panel discussions and virtual/online events Excellent coordination and management skills Superb organizational and interpersonal skills Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects from start to conclusion on time Keep current with the latest developments and trends in video, live audio, and photography
