In This Role

We’re looking for a Senior User Experience Designer who will be a visible design and practice lead and emerging thought leader. Working across broad domains, you will collaborate closely with product owners, designers, researchers, and engineers to create delightful customer experiences that help millions of people discover and book the perfect travel experiences. You’ll advocate for human‑centered product strategy, shape experience strategy and roadmap, and directly impact how travelers interact with Expedia’s products and partners.

• Partner with teams to tackle complex product challenges and brainstorm multiple creative solutions.
• Help shape our experience strategy and roadmap by balancing what travelers need today with where we’re heading tomorrow.
• Build compelling visions for traveler experiences and determine how to measure success.
• Spot the biggest opportunities for helping travelers connect with our products, negotiating priorities and contributing to experience roadmaps.
• Build and mentor great relationships with our User Research team, exploring new ways to understand what travelers truly need.
• Turn research insights into design solutions that consistently hit the mark for our customers.
• Create user interactions that travelers love—ones that work beautifully and drive real business results.
• Mentor junior designers and demonstrate what great design looks like in action.
• Find and implement creative solutions that enhance accessibility and inclusivity for diverse user needs.
• Work closely with developers to bring designs to life, knowing when to push boundaries and when to work within constraints.
• Help grow our design system by creating reusable components that make everyone’s life easier.
• Lead creation of project artifacts for large, complex projects, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Tell compelling stories about your design work to excite stakeholders and gain buy‑in.
• Build feedback cultures where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas and learning from each other.

• 7+ years of related professional experience.
• Strong facilitation, information architecture, and technical platform constraints expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, User Experience, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience designing across platforms, including native (iOS, Android) and web.
• Experience presenting design work and strategy to executive leadership and securing buy‑in.
• Experience leading and facilitating experience vision and design‑thinking workshops.
• A portfolio demonstrating thoughtful, innovative, and user‑centered designs.

• Experience designing for accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Experience mentoring junior designers and contributing to team growth.
• Experience leading and facilitating experience vision and design‑thinking workshops.

Salary Information

Seattle: $173,000.00 – $242,500.00 (potential to increase up to $277,000.00).

San Jose: $187,000.00 – $261,500.00 (potential to increase up to $299,000.00).
