Job Overview
Macy’s is seeking a strategic media planning leader to create the media plan for all initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in planning large‑scale media campaigns and experience building and managing high‑performing teams. The role includes managing relationships across internal stakeholders, agencies, and media partners, and leveraging media measurement to optimize omni sales.
What You Will Do
Media Strategy Development:
- Set vision, articulate opportunity and lead media strategy for all marketing plans to deliver business outcomes.
- Translate data insights into actionable media plans across various channels.
- Model GRPs to business and brand KPIs, including traffic and sales.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners – marketing leads, creative, and marketing effectiveness – to plan cohesive and impactful campaigns.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends in media consumption, opportunities, and consumer insights.
- Manage relationships with media agencies and vendors to optimize partnerships and plans.
- Utilize data‑driven insights and media math to optimize media buying, ensuring maximum ROI across channels.
- Identify and evaluate new media opportunities such as emerging channels and technologies.
- Build strong working relationships and influence partners across Marketing, Creative, Insights & Analytics, Social, and Brand Strategy.
- Proactively craft new processes and approaches to leverage paid media for brand health and business growth.
- Drive a results‑driven mindset throughout the team and instill high accountability to achieve goals.
- Drive performance and efficacy across media channels, leveraging quantitative and qualitative insights.
- Maximize effectiveness (positive impact on brand KPIs) and efficiency (optimal use of media budget).
Data‑Driven Optimization
- Utilize data‑driven methodology to improve campaign effectiveness and efficiency.
- Analyze audience behavior, media consumption patterns, and campaign effectiveness.
- Use attribution modeling to measure impact across media channels on customer acquisition and sales.
Analytical Skills
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills to optimize campaign performance.
- Write clear, concise data‑driven briefs.
- Strong understanding of advertising, audience targeting, and marketing technologies.
- Apply media testing approaches such as audience segmentation and geo/match market testing.
- Leverage analytical models such as MMM, MTA, and last click.
Team Leadership And Collaboration
- Cultivate high‑performing teams and foster collaboration across functions.
- Work in fast‑paced environments with attention to detail.
- Be proactive, solutions‑oriented, and articulate strategy and results clearly.
- Foster etiquette of acceptance and respect, strengthening relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
Skills You Will Need
- Strong track record in planning large‑scale media campaigns ($100M+).
- In-depth knowledge of media measurement and key brand metrics.
- Expertise in media models (MMM, MTA) and analytics.
- Proven ability to drive omni sales through media execution.
- Strong analytical and data‑driven approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to write concise data‑driven briefs.
- Collaborative and solutions‑oriented mindset.
- Experience managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Industry experience with retail or consumer goods preferred.
- Proficiency in media planning and buying tools preferred.
- Experience with digital media and social media marketing preferred.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 15+ years of experience managing high‑performing teams and campaigns.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule; occasional movement required.
