Senior Director, Worldwide Media Planning – Bristol Myers Squibb, Princeton, NJ

The Senior Director will partner with brand and business unit stakeholders to shape media strategy, develop media plans, and drive global media capabilities. The role delivers enterprise‑wide integrated media strategies, oversees budget and vendor relationships, and leads a global media team. It also focuses on innovation through AI, data‑driven insights and ensuring transparency and compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Govern and influence enterprise‑wide integrated media strategies tied to commercial objectives that align across therapeutic areas and business units.
  • Hold P&L accountability for all media investments, optimizing allocation across channels, vendors, and geographies to deliver measurable ROI.
  • Build and lead a global media function, driving succession planning and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Lead strategic partnerships with executive and senior leadership to define media priorities and capital allocation.
  • Integrate and align omnichannel strategy at enterprise scale to develop media strategies that enable an optimal marketing experience.
  • Oversee enterprise‑wide omnichannel execution, including risk and compliance management with third‑party vendors.
  • Institute enterprise planning and governance models focused on insights‑based planning frameworks for rapid decision‑making and measurable impact.
  • Lead the transformation agenda for media, integrating AI‑driven insights, modern analytics, and emerging technologies.
  • Own enterprise policy and governance frameworks, ensuring vendors and agencies deliver on commitments and drive sustained performance.
  • Negotiate global partnerships and alliances with media vendors, driving innovation and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Accelerate access to media and engagement data, shaping data strategy, compliance, and risk, and building reporting transparency.
  • Drive executive‑level transparency, compliance, and enterprise‑wide reporting of media investments and performance.
  • Scale media capabilities across the enterprise globally.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in media strategy, planning, and execution within a global organization; pharmaceutical or healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success engaging senior executives and brand leaders to align on strategic media priorities.
  • Proven budget management expertise with accountability for large, complex media investments.
  • Experience leading and developing teams in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Deep knowledge of AI‑driven media tools, analytics, and data‑enabled optimization.
  • Strong background in establishing KPIs, governance frameworks, and vendor accountability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).

Compensation Overview

Princeton, NJ – US $205,740 – $249,312 per year. The starting compensation range is listed above for a full‑time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. Final individual compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.
