Director Design and Development - Mars Veterinary Health Banfield Pet Hospital invites applicants to join as the Director of Design and Development for Mars Veterinary Health (MVH), a global pet healthcare network that supports 3,000 veterinary clinics across 30 countries. The role will be based out of one of MVH’s North America hubs in Vancouver, WA; Santa Monica, CA; Tampa, FL; or New York City, NY.

Responsibilities

Lead MVH’s enterprise-wide development strategy, aligning learning initiatives with organizational priorities and talent goals.

Build and manage a high-performance team of Senior Learning Experience Designers and Instructional Designers.

Champion a continuous learning culture that supports agility, innovation, and inclusion across all regions and functions.

Oversee global development portfolio, including global learning experiences, processes, and standards for in-person, virtual, and digital formats.

Serve as a strategic partner to business unit leaders, providing data-driven recommendations and facilitating decisions at the Learning Council and senior leadership levels.

Drive project intake scoping, resource management, and stakeholder engagement for learning development projects across MVH Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom.

Champion processes and standards for learning intake, design, delivery, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with MVH culture and global L+D objectives.

Act as a thought leader on leadership, talent development, and change management best practices, continuously improving MVH’s development Enablement framework.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or Human Resources preferred.

8–10 years of progressive experience in learning, development, or people operations within a large, multinational environment.

Proven ability to design and deliver global development programs in a matrixed, multinational organization.

Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with a track record of influencing complex organizational structures.

Deep understanding of adult learning theory, leadership development, and change management.

Certification in coaching, leadership development tools, or Korn Ferry preferred.

Strong facilitation, executive presence, and data analysis capabilities.

Salary Range $161,600 - $277,750

Special Working Considerations

Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

Project timelines and work volume may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties.

Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate up to 50 pounds.

Requires good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand‑finger dexterity with the ability to grasp.

Noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
