QA/QC Spec Writer, Project Architect
Carrier Johnson + Culture is looking for a highly skilled Architectural Senior Project Architect QA/QC Spec Writer to lead quality processes and support architectural projects.
Pay Range
Carrier Johnson + Culture provided pay range: $125,000.00/yr – $145,000.00/yr. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Responsibilities
- Lead Quality Processes: Implement and manage QA/QC processes for architectural projects to ensure high-quality design and execution.
- Document Review: Review construction documents for adherence to standards, constructability, and code compliance, identifying errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and opportunities for value-added design.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and expertise to project teams throughout project phases.
- Code Analysis: Research and apply building codes (CBC/IBC) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Specification Development: Develop and improve architectural specifications, including specialized content for different project types and regional conditions.
- Staff Education: Educate staff on codes, drawing conventions, architectural detailing, construction practices, and innovative technologies relevant to design and delivery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, consultants, and clients to ensure quality standards are met.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records, prepare reports, and document findings related to quality control inspections and non-conformances.
- Project Closeout: Conduct final inspections and compile documentation for project handover.
- Template Management: Manage needed updates to office drawing and specification templates on an as-needed basis.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle; oversee project documentation and deliverables.
- Construction Administration: Review construction documents, respond to RFIs, conduct site visits, monitor construction progress, quality, and adherence to design intent.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct design reviews, perform quality inspections, ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards, making necessary revisions.
- Budget and Schedule Management: Collaborate with PM in budgeting and schedule management; oversee project schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior architects and team members; guide, support, and provide feedback.
- Continuous Professional Development: Engage in professional development activities, stay updated with trends, new technologies, best practices, and contribute to the firm’s knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant architectural practice with focus on QA/QC, covering Commercial, Mixed‑Use, Governmental, Multi‑Family Residential, High‑Rise, and Podium projects.
- Architectural license in the relevant jurisdiction (may be required).
- Expertise in architectural design principles, building systems, construction methods, materials, and constructability.
- Advanced knowledge of building codes and regulations (CBC/IBC, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge of QA/QC processes and procedures; Bluebeam Revu advanced skills.
- Deltek Specpoint skills preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
