ABOUT THE POSITION:
OHO INTERIORS is seeking a creative, ambitious, collaborative Senior Interior Designer with extensive residential construction design & project management experience to join our growing team! This role is full‑time and will require the ability to travel.
We are searching for a candidate who is a self‑starter, highly organized, has a superb attention to detail, who can creatively problem‑solve, and is eager to contribute to all facets of the design‑process within a boutique studio environment. Possesses ability to multi‑task, prioritize workload, and keep composure under stress. Being proactive when design challenges arise and take responsibility but understand that there is always a solution.
Responsibilities include: drafting technical drawings (including floor plans, elevations, and custom furniture plans), sourcing materials & selections for Oho’s various new construction, renovation & furnishing projects, preparation for client presentations, consistent communication with Oho’s clients, development of construction documentation, working directly with Oho’s Procurement Coordinator on pricing & proposal development in Studio Designer, direct communication and coordination with our build team partners & clients to ensure Oho’s designs can be (and are being) executed on site, surveying existing sites and helping with installations + styling. Working alongside the Design Principal of Oho Interiors to lead multiple and varied FF&E projects, with the assistance of Oho’s Associate Designers.
Candidate must have strong & polished communication skills – management and interpersonal – engaging with clients, vendors, showrooms, and a growing team. Ability to adapt and thrive in an everchanging business environment is crucial. Looking for a candidate excited to grow in their role within a boutique studio!
YOU ARE PERFECT FOR THIS POSITION IF YOU:
You are exceptionally proficient in AutoCAD, Google Sheets & current technologies (Dropbox, Slack, Canva, Keynote, etc).
You have a minimum of 5 years of design experience in a Design Firm setting with Dedicated Experience & Knowledge in Leading and Project Managing Large-Scale, Highly Custom, Residential Construction Projects
You have proven experience in handling all aspects of full-service design projects – from conception to project completion.
You have good project leadership skills, including the ability to mentor junior members of the team.
You live by the phrase “design is in the details”.
You are hard‑working, process driven, efficient and able to meet critical internal and external deadlines.
You have a financial understanding of project costs and budget awareness.
You are someone with a proactive nature, great instincts and open to feedback.
You have strong professional communication skills - both over the phone and written.
You are someone who demonstrates, through every aspect of who they are, a passion for design, art and beauty.
You have been complimented on your level of poise, professionalism and your ability to problem solve.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION:
Creative & Project Management:
Together with the Principal Designer, lead the creative and conceptual stages of the projects.
Inspire the design team, bringing new ideas and original design concepts.
Design and develop beautiful custom furniture, including case goods & upholstery.
Present Oho Concepts and Design Solutions with ability to speak to the “why” behind the choice with an expert voice.
Manage & check for accuracy information produced both internally by Oho and also by consultants, sub‑contractors and suppliers.
Coordinate and oversee the project’s technical documentation & detailed specifications, ensuring comments and revisions are always up to date.
Lead communication with Build Teams across various projects to bring Oho’s Designs into reality.
Support the Leadership Team in producing detailed project timelines with internal milestones. Provide regular updates to the Principal.
Respond effectively to complex questions and troubleshoot problems, while working between various projects.
Apply strategic thinking to projects. forecast, identify, and communicate risks and brings ideas and solutions to the table with strategic thinking & a spirit of problem solving.
Endurance with enthusiasm and a high level of Client care from start to finish of multi‑year projects.
Leadership & Firm Culture:
Contributing to setting the internal design standards and guidelines, ensure they are implemented by the entire team.
Monitoring the project’s output, report back to the Principal Designer in a constructive manner, highlighting wins and loses.
Mentorship to entire Design Team, providing help and guidance on Oho’s internal methods, processes and procedures.
Drive and constantly work towards improving Oho efficiencies and our Team’s work experience, growth and culture with collaboration and a spirit of service & joy.
PAY AND LOCATION:
Pay Dependent on Experience. Oho’s Studio is located in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis. Site Visits will take place typically within 1 hour of the Twin Cities Metro but occasionally might involve travel. As much advance notice will be given as possible for any extended travel needs.
