Overview

Head of Corporate Communications. The Corporate Communications Leader will be responsible for enhancing and protecting the company’s reputation, shaping our communications strategy internally and externally, and supporting key stakeholders including executives, media, and industry influencers. Reporting directly into the Head of Brand, this role will partner across senior leadership, business areas, and the marketing organization to ensure consistency, clarity and impact in how Lord Abbett presents itself to clients, investors, employees and the broader industry.

We are seeking a strategic leader who can translate business strategies into compelling communications and manage executive messaging across multiple audiences and touchpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Executive Communications: Work closely with the Head of Brand and senior leadership to translate business strategies into compelling communications and support senior executives (including the CEO) with key strategic communications across audiences and touchpoints (speeches, presentations, interviews, articles).
  • External Communications: Develop a strategic external communications plan, including recommendations for how key executives should be leveraged in the media; build and maintain relationships with key media, analysts and external influencers to elevate Lord Abbett’s voice in the industry; drive proactive and reactive external communications programs, including media relations, press releases, crisis communications and reputation risk management.
  • Internal Communications & Culture: Design and execute internal communications strategies that engage employees globally, reinforce culture and support change initiatives; ensure employees are informed, aligned and inspired by the firm’s direction, brand commitments and performance; partner with HCM and other functions to embed communications into major internal initiatives and transformations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Thought Leadership: Lead cross-functional collaboration across Marketing, Investor Relations, Legal/Compliance, Product, and Client Solutions to ensure consistency and alignment; evaluate emerging communications channels and technologies and make recommendations for innovative approaches.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive corporate communications experience, ideally with leadership experience within financial services, asset management or professional services.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic communications for a complex, multi-stakeholder, global organization.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling and executive communications skills; experience crafting messages for senior executives and public-facing communications. Excellent PowerPoint communication skills.
  • Strong media relations experience, including establishing relationships with top-tier business press, managing issues/crisis communications, and supporting reputation management.
  • Experience building and leading teams, managing budgets, navigating vendor/agency relationships and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Highly strategic, intellectually curious and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and evolving priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure and report on communications effectiveness and to continuously refine processes and approaches.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits: Annual base salary for this role is $200,000-$230,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different. Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
