About The Company

The visionaries and operators behind Manhattan Vintage and Artists & Fleas are bringing together a love of home, design, and vintage with the launch of Material Matters, a new brand and showcase dedicated to treasure hunting for your home. Our inaugural show will launch February 28 - March 1, 2025. Material Matters celebrates conscious collecting, beautiful objects, and the thrill of discovery by bringing together carefully selected vintage home and object exhibitors and design curators for a 2-day event in Flatiron. 

About the role

We're looking for a talented Videographer and Editor who can generate content for our inaugural showcase that will help translate a brand vision into an engaging, scroll-stopping social feed. We want our social feeds to serve an audience beyond show attendees, and to serve as a source of design inspiration with visual treats that attendees want to save and share. 

There are two buckets of content:

  • Pre-show content creation to create buzz about the show
  • Creating content during the show for weekend of marketing and future marketing

What we are looking for:

A package of deliverables to use across social platforms - estimated at:

  • 4 Instagram reels
  • 4 Tiktoks
  • 4 paid meta ads 

Example Content Types You Could Create and Source- we’ll work together to prioritize 

  • Exhibitor spotlight posts 
  • Interviews with collectors/hometours
  • Countdown and urgency content

At Event:

  • Product preview Reels (quick cuts, trending audio, text overlays)

Future State Ideas:

  • Educational Content (vintage collecting tips, historical deep dives in interesting objects)
  • *Graphic content will be created in collaboration with a design team

About You:

  • Strong portfolio showing Instagram posts and Reels you've created
  • Photography skills (iPhone is fine—we care about composition and lighting)
  • Video editing (CapCut, Premiere Rush, or similar)
  • Graphic design (Canva proficiency required; Adobe Suite a plus)
  • Copywriting ability—you can write captions that engage and convert
  • Understanding of Instagram best practices and trends
  • You genuinely love vintage, design, and home decor
  • You're a self-starter who can batch-create content efficiently
  • You have an eye for aesthetics and visual storytelling
  • You can work independently with minimal hand-holding
  • You're scrappy—you can create beautiful content without a huge budget

Time Commitment

This is a focused freelance role : 10 hours per week from now through March 2025 (with potential to extend for future shows). You'll create the content and collaborate on strategy—we'll handle the posting, scheduling, and community management in-house.

  • Consistent 10 hours/week (December-February)
  • Flexible scheduling (can batch content creation)
  • Show weekend (Feb 27-Mar 1): On-site coverage for 3-4 hours each day

Pre-Show

  • 2-3 local exhibitor studio visits/photoshoots (December-January, 2-3 hours each)
  • 1 venue walkthrough at Iron23 in Chelsea (2 hours, flexible date)

Required:

  • Show weekend: February 27-March 1
  • 2-3 hours each day capturing content on-site
  • VIP Preview (Feb 27): 6-9pm
  • Public days (Feb 28-Mar 1): Flexible 2-3 hour window each day
  • Shoot photos/video, capture Stories, get testimonials
  • We'll handle real-time posting; you provide the content

Pay Range:

$25-$40 (Hourly) | Freelance
