General Atomics Survivability group has an exciting position available for an IR Designer and Analyst to support Infrared (IR) analysis and design support across a variety of platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Significant experience in modeling and analyzing IR signature and design optimization.
Assist in design development and iteration with other functional IPT stakeholders to meet LO requirements.
Support the development and validation of IR test methodology. Will require the identification of acceptable measurement tools and development of processes.
Perform IR analysis using industry standard tools.
Generate performance assessments, risk identification and mitigation recommendations for GA developed designs.
Familiarity with state of the art materials.
Provide program planning and technical leadership to IRAD and CRAD projects targeting development and implementation of Survivability technologies.
Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.
Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.
Job Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, four or more years of experience with a master’s degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Experience with basic IR principles.
Experience in developing and executing design of experiments.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Strong team player with leadership potential qualities. The successful candidate will work under general supervision, following established procedures.
Demonstrated technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice in a relevant industry and product.
Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Electromagnetics, Chemistry, Physics preferred.
Experience with Six Sigma techniques.
Experience developing and fabricating composite structures with an emphasis on low observable materials and structures.
Demonstrated experience integrating LO compatible systems into aircraft platforms.
