Creative Lead / Live-Action Director (Role Summary) We’re looking for a multidisciplinary Creative Lead / Live‑Action Director to guide the vision, craft, and evolution of an ongoing social‑forward series for one of our clients. This role sits at the intersection of creative development, design, directing, and post‑production. You’ll shape the script, look, feel, and storytelling language of the series across current and future episodes.
What You’ll Do
Partner closely with Global Creative Lead, working together to maintain brand alignment, identifying social‑first trends, elevating craft, and ensuring each episode meets the highest creative standards.
Direct live‑action production from set‑up to wrap, working closely with producers, cinematographers, talent, and department leads to deliver elevated visuals. May also be asked to virtually oversee similar shoots with our partners in Shanghai, ensuring cross‑market alignment.
Lead design‑driven storytelling, establishing visual language, from still assets to onscreen systems that feel modern and distinctive.
Guide the edit, pulling music, shaping pacing, rhythm, and narrative clarity; collaborate with editors to refine structure, pull selects, and ensure the final cut feels tight, graceful, educational and social‑native.
Give clear creative direction to animators—translating concepts into precise beats, transitions, visual devices, and branded moments.
Develop future episodes, contributing to tone, structure, visual worlds, and new formats; pitch creative approaches that extend the series into fresh and unexpected territory.
Contribute to treatments, scripts, boards, shotlists, and reference decks, bringing clarity and ambition to every stage of pre‑production.
Champion creative cohesion across live action, animation, design, and post—making sure every frame and beat ladders back to a unified story.
What You Bring
8–12+ years of experience as a director, creative lead, or multidisciplinary filmmaker, ideally with work in branded, social, or episodic formats.
A demonstrated ability to lead copywriters, animators, designers, and editors with clarity and intention.
Deep experience in directing live‑action shoots with non‑actors, from blocking and performance direction to working with DP, G&E, and art department.
Enthusiasm for interesting, dynamic camera techniques on a technical level.
Understanding Shot on iPhone production, from rigs to camera add‑ons.
A refined editorial eye—comfortable shaping narrative, timing, and story architecture in post.
A reel or portfolio that reflects taste, originality, and elevated craft.
Collaborative instincts, excellent communication skills, and a calm, solutions‑oriented creative presence.
Strong presentation skills in a client‑facing environment.
A positive, can‑do attitude both in front of clients and with internal team members.
Preferred Skills – AI Driven Creative Production
Demonstrated experience with leveraging Generative AI creative tools (Firefly, Sora, Veo3, Nano Banana, ChatGPT, etc.) and a strong curiosity for emerging platforms.
Deep understanding of how AI can enhance and accelerate creative pipelines – from ideation and pre‑production through post, finishing and versioning.
A genuine passion for storytelling, continuous learning, and pushing creativity forward through new technologies and innovative production methods.
US Pay Range $175,000 - $225,000 USD
