We are seeking a senior‑level engineer to lead project teams delivering services for civil and environmental engineering projects involving waste management facility design, permitting, stormwater management, landfill gas management, operations planning, and construction quality assurance. This role provides technical direction and client‑facing leadership within the Civil Design and Environmental Services of the Power market, with a strong emphasis on Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR).

Key responsibilities include:

Provide strategic business direction and support existing client relationships.

Lead client‑facing teams for CCR, Fly Ash, and MSW projects.

Develop and present winning strategies for new and follow‑on contract bids.

Mentor and coach team members, review proposals, and support all phases of proposal development.

Support long‑term strategy and pipeline development for Civil Engineering work.

Manage project design teams as Engineer of Record, Project Manager, or Project Director.

Ensure profitable performance and successful completion of projects.

Liaise with federal, state, and local agencies, clients, subcontractors, industry groups, and community entities.

Exercise ethical decision‑making, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Travel locally and nationally (up to 10% of the time).

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with valid North Carolina PE registration.

12+ years of civil engineering design experience, including significant experience with federal regulations of CCR ponds and landfills.

Familiarity with the power market and clientele.

Knowledge of in‑situ stabilization techniques and civil construction associated with CCR or other waste material.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization.

Successful completion of WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with technical and business writing, office automation, and communication software.

Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP policies.

Flexibility for non‑typical work schedules.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel.

Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills.

Willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice.

Provide expert witness and litigation support as needed.
