About Mixed

Mixed is a Brooklyn-based DTC printwear brand that designs everyday statementwear that inspires you to live in full color.

About the Role

Mixed is stepping into a defining chapter—growing from a founder-led creative process into a collaborative design and product development organization. We are hiring a Designer who will own the day‑to‑day design and development workflow, translating seasonal concepts into silhouettes, line‑plans, and samples.

This role is best suited for a designer who is both creative and technically skilled—someone who is comfortable sketching silhouettes, building CADs, guiding samples through development, and making informed decisions about fit, fabric, and construction. You’ll collaborate closely with the founder, merchandising, and print designers to ensure each collection feels cohesive and brand aligned. Experience in DTC or premium RTW and a track record of running a seasonal design calendar end‑to‑end is essential.

If you thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, love print‑driven product, and want to shape the design foundation of a fast‑growing brand, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate seasonal direction, moods, prints and color stories into cohesive silhouettes.
  • Conduct comp shopping and develop inspiration/swipe boards.
  • Sketch silhouettes across categories (dresses, jumpsuits, sets, knits, tops, bottoms).
  • Select fabrications suitable for silhouettes and seasonal direction.

2. CAD Development + Print Integration

  • Overlay prints on silhouettes and develop CAD decks for reviews.
  • Test and refine print scale, placement, coloration, and silhouette harmony.
  • Build and maintain seasonal CAD linesheets.
  • Manage the CAD iteration process through multiple line‑plan reviews.
  • Maintain an organized library of seasonal design assets and files.

3. Technical Design

  • Prepare light tech packs for factory partners (sketches, fabrication, trims, construction notes).
  • Review proto samples and annotate detailed corrections.
  • Lead fit sessions; document fit notes and communicate revisions to factory partners.

4. Factory Communication + Product Development

  • Send tech packs, print files, comments, and revisions to factory partners.
  • Track sample timelines, fit rounds, and development milestones.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager on sourcing fabrics, trims, and construction feasibility.
  • Review strike‑offs for print accuracy and fabric suitability.
  • Build and maintain line‑plans in Milanote/Airtable.
  • Ensure balance across categories, color‑ways, pricing, and hero‑supporting ratios.
  • Partner with Nasrin and Merch on assortment edits and storytelling.

6. Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Print Designers to bring prints through final production‑ready stages.
  • Work with Marketing and Creative on campaign needs and storytelling assets.
  • Ensure all samples are shoot‑ready and delivered on schedule.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Production Manager on delivery windows and PO timing.

7. Systems + Process Building

  • Help operationalize the design‑to‑development pipeline for 2026 scale.
  • Maintain clean workflow tracking inside Airtable and other company systems.
  • Build repeatable processes for silhouette development, print approvals, fit reviews, sample tracking.
  • Strengthen vendor relationships and assist in onboarding new development partners.

What Success Looks Like

  • Seasonal collections move smoothly through development with fewer bottlenecks.
  • Samples arrive closer to final, requiring fewer revisions.Print and silhouette integration feels elevated, cohesive, and signature to Mixed.
  • Strong, efficient communication with factory partners.
  • Reliable, scalable processes capable of producing 40+ styles per season.
  • Help the brand increase silhouette and print range, fit, quality, and construction consistency.
  • More efficient factory development loop.
  • Reduced founder workload.
  • A predictable, repeatable design flywheel powering our next stage of scale.

Who You Are

  • 5–7 years experience in fashion design (ideally contemporary, RTW, or elevated DTC).
  • Experienced in CAD software, Procreate, Adobe suite and similar platforms.
  • Owned a seasonal calendar from concept to sample approval.
  • Deep understanding of fabrics, construction, fit, and grading.
  • Experienced communicating directly with overseas factories, ideally India or China.
  • Able to take high‑level direction and run independently with strong judgment.
  • Thrives in scrappy, entrepreneurial, fast‑moving environments.
  • Highly organized, strong communicator, excels at cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Loves problem‑solving and brings solutions quickly.
  • Comfortable giving and receiving direct, clear feedback.
