BCForward is currently seeking a highly motivated Gameplay Designer Role: Gameplay Designer

Location: Redmond, WA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Typical Day in the Role

10+ years working as a level designer with at least 1 shipped title showcasing combat/encounter design and scripting experience on a first-person/third-person shooter title.

“The ideal candidate has experience building Halo campaign experiences with Halo tools and scripting languages”.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience creating encounters and campaign events using a text based scripting language (HaloScript, C#, LUA, UnityScript, etc.). Writing communication/documentation deep understanding of gameplay and level design theories and practices. Minimum 5 years experience with using game editing software (Unreal, Unity, Frostbite, etc.).

Responsibilities: Finalize encounters, scripting, and design of ship quality levels built on the foundation of existing levels. Build gameplay moments such as combat encounters, vignettes, and interactive narrative sequences. Author and review level design documentation. Play test and iterate on level content to ensure delivery at the highest quality. Partner with other level designers to maintain a positive and productive working atmosphere. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with all development functions and teams to ensure a best-in-industry production process, player experience, and team environment. Work closely with the art and engineering team to meet level metrics, budgets, performance targets, and visual targets. Write reusable, readable level scripts that can be handed off and shared with other designers.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills: 10+ years working as a level designer with at least 1 shipped title showcasing combat/encounter design and scripting experience on a first-person/third-person shooter title. Deep understanding of gameplay and level design theories and practices. Highly proficient in using game editing software (Unreal, Unity, Frostbite, etc.). Experience creating encounters and campaign events using a text based scripting language (HaloScript, C#, LUA, UnityScript, etc.). Excellent writing and communication skills. Passion and knowledge of Halo encounter and campaign design.
