Head of Space Design, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) – $200,000/year USD
We are establishing a nationwide network of 2 Hour Learning campuses. As the Head of Space Design, you will lead the creation of modular, self‑service design frameworks for spatial layout, FF&E, finishes, and play environments that replicate effectively across varied campus settings. Your role is execution‑focused: you will evaluate campuses, develop upgrade plans, manage vendor performance, and ensure precise implementation at each location.
Responsibilities
Build modular, self‑service design frameworks for spatial layout, FF&E, finishes, and play environments that replicate effectively across varied campus settings.
Conduct on‑site evaluations using standardized assessment tools to measure alignment with brand criteria and identify high‑value enhancements.
Produce detailed, visual, financially scoped proposals for facility improvements that support pedagogy, brand identity, and family engagement.
Manage vendor performance on location, maintaining adherence to standards, budgets, and schedules through hands‑on quality assurance.
Record outcomes, lessons learned, and revise operational guides after each installation to improve future deployments.
What You Won’t Be Doing
Crafting custom, boutique environments that resist standardization or replication.
Delivering specifications and stepping back—owning the project from assessment through final installation.
Waiting for complete information before acting—value proactive decision‑making, rapid iteration, and sound judgment under uncertainty.
Generating design work without constraints—deliverables must align tightly with brand guidelines and operational realities.
Operating primarily from an office—expect to be in the field 50‑75% of your time.
Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every campus provides a premium, brand‑consistent, and pedagogically effective physical environment by developing and implementing modular design frameworks that maintain quality at scale.
Basic Requirements
5+ years of experience designing and executing multi‑location environments in education, retail, hospitality, or co‑working sectors.
Portfolio demonstrating completed projects that integrate visual excellence with operational feasibility.
Proven track record developing scalable, standards‑driven design systems rather than singular bespoke projects.
Hands‑on management of vendor implementation, including installation quality control and schedule adherence.
Excellent documentation capabilities and communication skills with cross‑functional teams, particularly non‑design personnel.
Prepared and able to travel regularly, 50‑75% of the time, throughout the U.S.
Currently based in the U.S. and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice‑to‑have Requirements
Background designing premium environments with rigorous quality standards, such as boutique hospitality, luxury retail, or high‑end residential projects.
Proficiency with spatial documentation platforms like AutoCAD, Revit, Figma, or comparable tools.
An intuitive understanding of what elevates a space to premium quality, even within budget constraints.
About 2 Hour Learning Education is broken, but 2 Hour Learning is proving it doesn’t have to be. They’re tearing down the outdated one‑size‑fits‑all model and replacing it with AI‑driven personalized learning that helps kids master academics in just two hours a day. With students consistently ranking in the top 1‑2% nationally and the top 20% achieving an astonishing 6.5x growth, they’re proving that smarter learning is possible.
