Library Services Technical Services Library Clerk
Under general supervision, Technical Services Library Clerk works with the Technical Services team to process library materials and provides a welcoming environment to library patrons through professional and proactive customer service. Collaborates across work teams to support daily tasks and library initiatives. Examples Of Duties
Demonstrates excellent internal and external customer service in all interactions with respect, responsiveness, and professionalism.
Communicates effectively across work teams and with the public through active listening, writing, and speaking.
Contributes to initiatives and encourages peers to get involved with special projects and organizational goals.
Responds to patron inquiries, resolves patron issues, and assists patrons with locating materials.
Works cohesively in a collaborative environment to achieve library goals and meet service needs.
Processes library materials according to standards set by the Technical Services department.
Processes library materials, patron holds, library card applications and fee payments.
Participates in library programs and outreach for all ages.
Supports library building technology according to library and city standards.
Supports maintenance of library collections by evaluating condition of materials according to FMPL standards.
Responds to patron inquiries, resolves patron issues, and assists patrons with locating materials.
Assists and instructs patrons on library technology and services.
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
Six months of general office experience or office vocational training is required.
Physical Abilities
The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. * Ability to see, talk, hear, and write. Ability to transport various boxed documents, with weight up to 52 lbs., with the use of dolly for assistance. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. of heavy boxes, books, equipment, etc. Ability to file/shelf and retrieve items stored on high bookshelves. Ability to stand for extended periods of time; and walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb, and work in confined spaces. * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Desired Qualifications
Customer service experience is preferred.
General working knowledge of library operations is preferred.
Knowledge/ Skills / Abilities
General knowledge of the purposes and functions of a public library.
General working knowledge of computer operations, to include data entry, and general office procedures.
Excellent skills in English, verbally and in writing, to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to learn routine library procedures.
Ability to understand and comply with oral and written directions.
Ability to work well under pressure and stress, to include handling multiple tasks.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
Ability to maintain a professional and appropriate demeanor with staff and the public.
Ability to work various hours, to include evenings and weekends.
