What you’ll do In this role you will define and drive the vision for a JavaScript‑based product engineering team at OCC. You will lay the foundation of best‑in‑class node‑based architecture in collaboration with our JS engineers, designers and product managers while keeping our tech stack up to date with industry standards. This role serves as a partner to all product development teams, setting the standard for technology delivery at OCC.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Drive full‑stack JavaScript engineering best practices, design patterns, and standards.
Manage a team of full‑stack JavaScript engineers and UI architects, championing standards within the development and architecture community.
Produce and maintain architectural diagrams and security schematics for UX team systems.
Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and infrastructure teams on all architectural decisions.
Manage the UX application portfolio, design solutions that meet OCC standards and industry best practices, and prioritize work.
Work with the UX Program Manager to staff product teams, determine allocation, and set developmental milestones and deliverables.
Collaborate with product owners on scoping and defining development work.
Partner with UX and research teams to deliver next‑generation experiences across applications.
Champion reusable, best‑practice component design, execution, and accessibility (a11y) within the business.
Evaluate third‑party npm packages and lead security assessment and procurement processes.
Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Coach team members to align with career goals, grow technical and soft skills, and foster psychological safety and well‑being.
Qualifications and experience
Strong understanding of web security, including OAuth, authentication, and authorization.
Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (ReactJS, NestJS) and ability to architect and execute projects.
Experience with micro‑frontend architectures such as Single SPA or Module Federation.
Experience designing release and deployment strategies.
Proficiency with performance optimization techniques.
Proficiency with testing tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Experience with observability tools such as Splunk for monitoring and troubleshooting.
Understanding of WCAG accessibility compliance.
Technical skills
Micro‑frontend architecture, ReactJS, NestJS, TypeORM, PostgreSQL, Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, AWS.
OAuth, authentication, authorization.
UI architecture.
Education and background
10+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications.
