Compensation: Annual Salary of $60,000 (dependent on experience)

Position Type: Full-time, fully remote (Denver area resident preferrable, attendance at some meetings and conferences required)

The Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) has been serving the veterinary profession since 1888. As a non-profit dedicated to enhancing animal/human health and welfare while advancing the knowledge and wellbeing of Colorado veterinarians. We are seeking a passionate and strategic Marketing Manager and Communications role to join our team and help drive the organization's visibility and engagement.

 

Position Overview:

The Marketing Manager supports the organization’s mission by helping plan and implement effective marketing and communication efforts. This role focuses on coordinating campaigns, strengthening member engagement, maintaining brand consistency, and supporting public relations tied to our legislative work. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and data-informed, with strong communication skills and the ability to work alongside our Senior Marketing Leader.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Membership Engagement

  • Develop and execute creative strategies to attract, engage, and retain members across all demographics, with targeted outreach to younger professionals.
  • Foster a strong sense of community through personalized communication, digital engagement, and member-driven initiatives.
  • Use data insights to track trends and design campaigns that strengthen retention and long-term loyalty.

 

Digital Marketing

  • Oversee and grow the organization’s digital presence across websites, apps, email, and social platforms.
  • Create innovative, trend-driven content strategies (e.g., short-form video, influencer collaborations) to engage younger audiences.
  • Use analytics to assess performance and continuously refine outreach for greater reach and conversion.
  • Familiarity with web page design, content management, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems to track engagement and data.

 

Event Promotion

  • Partner with our Senior Marketing Leader and other event organizers to develop and execute strategic marketing plans for conferences, meetings, and special events.
  • Drive attendance and engagement through multi-platform campaigns, social storytelling, and digital interaction.
  • Tailor promotional efforts to highlight event value for students, early-career professionals, and long-time members.

 

Brand Management

  • Maintain and strengthen a consistent, modern brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Refresh brand visuals and messaging to stay relevant and appealing to emerging audiences.
  • Enhance visibility and reputation through strategic storytelling and advocacy-aligned communications.

 

Media & Legislative Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and policy influencers to effectively communicate the organization’s legislative priorities and advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and distribute timely press releases, statements, and multimedia content that highlight key legislative initiatives and public policy impacts.
  • Position the organization as a credible and trusted source on legislative issues through proactive media engagement and consistent, values-based messaging.
  • Plan and direct public relations programs within the Advocacy Committee.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and legislative audiences, ensuring clear and consistent communication aligned with organizational values.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing and communications roles, preferably in an association setting.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content creation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Colorado legislative process is a plus.
  • Experience with membership associations or similar organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, MailChimp, or Association Management Systems is a plus.
