Interaction Sound Designer – Family of Apps Base pay range:

$137,000.00/yr - $191,000.00/yr

Meta is seeking an experienced Interaction Sound Designer to join our Creative Audio team. Our mission is to create meaningful experiences that enhance human connection through the power of audio. Your focus will be on defining audio and haptics experiences for Meta’s Family of Apps (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads and MetaAI). You will partner with a team of Interaction Sound Designers who are responsible for helping build brand recognition, and enhance the overall brand experiences across all of our products. You will be involved in all aspects of the sound design process, from concept to iteration and refinement, to preparing and implementing assets, to testing performance and approving designs for public release. As a centralized team, we touch nearly every product Meta produces, making our team integral to the company's success. We collaborate with product and creative teams across Meta to drive sonic innovation and create meaningful experiences.

Responsibilities

Lead and drive complex interaction sound design + haptics projects through completion

Craft unique, memorable, and landmark sonic experiences for the 3+ billion people who use Meta technologies

Use your proven understanding of interaction sound design to define and distill broad concepts into actionable deliverables

Contribute to the development of sound design systems by establishing audio design standards, guidelines, and best practices, while being one of the go-to experts for all things sound, including design standards, best practices, and implementation guidelines

Act as a source of truth for all things sound including sound design, design standards, best practices, and implementation guidelines

Execute in time-sensitive and highly fluid environment

Collaborate closely with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products

Collaborate closely with all partners to determine scope of work, planning and execution of sound design and implementation

Influence key business decisions within the organization and product/ business area, leveraging clear data-driven decision making

Influence and create unique, memorable sonic experiences in order to maintain quality and leverage existing resources for product consistency and efficiency

Develop and maintain a consistent sonic brand identity across key Meta touchpoints

Give and solicit feedback from other sound designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years creating UX sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and non-traditional or immersive environments

Demonstrated experience creating bespoke Interaction (UX) sound design for high-profile products

Experience with sound design synthesis, latest plugins and foley recording

Experience in music production

Experience working with Pro Tools and/or other professional DAW’s

Understanding of human-centered design

Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking

Understanding of haptics design patterns and principles

Understanding accessibility requirements

Experience managing, scoping and communicating project milestones and deliverables

Experience testing implementation of sounds

Experience troubleshooting and problem solving complex technical issues

Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines

Experience communicating effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless and efficient sound implementation

Preferred Qualifications

Video editing skills (Premier Pro, Final Cut, Avid, etc)

Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)

Knowledge of acoustics, equipment set ups and calibration

Experience mixing in a variety of mediums, such as mobile and spatial audio

Experience in designing UI/UX audio for Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) experiences

Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)

Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR or other immersive mediums

AR audio experience with AR design tools (Spark, Snap Studio)
