Data Visualization Specialist

Design, develop, and maintain advanced data visualizations and dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, or similar platforms. Translate business requirements into effective visual solutions that communicate insights clearly and accurately. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data needs and ensure visualizations align with strategic objectives. Optimize performance and usability of dashboards and reports for various audiences. Mentor junior developers and contribute to visualization standards and best practices. Stay current with emerging trends in data visualization and analytics technologies. Protects company's intellectual property and the privacy of customers' data. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. Supervisory/managerial responsibility is not applicable. Education, Licensure or Certification: Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Experience or Related Experience: 5+years of experience in data visualization or BI development. Experience in one or more visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Looker). Strong proficiency in SQL and data modeling. Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) and web technologies (e.g, JavaScript, HTML, CSS) is a plus. Excellent communication and storytelling skills to convey data insights effectively. Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis across large, complex datasets preferred. Hands-on expertise with Snowflake: data modeling, performance tuning, and working with semi- structured data (e.g., JSON, XML) is a plus. Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools like SSIS, Apache Airflow, or Azure Data Factory preferred. Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and best practices for scalable analytics preferred. Experience integrating visualization tools with cloud-based data sources and APIs preferred. Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments preferred. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus. Knowledge of UX/UI principles in dashboard design is preferred. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Travel is not typically required for this position. Work is generally performed in an office environment or remote setting in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Work requires normal range of hearing and eyesight. Incumbent must be able to use a telephone or head set equipment and operate a keyboard and other office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, incumbents are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Incumbent may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of decreased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
