NewsNation seeks a Senior Story Editor to join the producing team for a new daily show. The Senior Story Editor will play a key role in helping to elevate the writing and production value of the program by taking a lead role in crafting selecting stories, producing segments, crafting interview questions, and assisting the show host. In addition to being a lead producer, the story editor also assists in checking scripts and show elements for accuracy, style, balance. The position is based at the network's offices in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
Pitch story ideas and make guest suggestions which align with show’s editorial direction
Craft copy, segments, and interview questions
Copy edit and reworks scripts and content produced by segment producers and associate producers as needed
Check accuracy of graphics and video elements
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Ten or more years of editorial experience in a fast-paced environment for a national news program (broadcast, cable or digital)
Excellent writing and copy-editing skills
Segment producing experience
Strong organizational, and people skills are vital
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills who brings lots of ideas to the table
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Salary Range: $150,000 – $170,000 Annualized.
